Job Summary:
The Head of People & Culture will be responsible for developing and implementing human resource strategies that align with the company's mission, values, and business objectives in the renewable energy sector. This role ensures effective talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, and compliance with labour laws while fostering a culture of Performance, collaboration, innovation and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
· Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract top talent in the renewable energy industry.
· Implement workforce planning to meet business growth and project demands.
· Foster relationships with universities, technical institutions, and industry partners to build talent pipelines.
2. Employee Engagement & Culture
· Promote a culture of performance, collaboration, sustainable growth and innovation.
· Develop employee engagement programs that align with company values and support employee and job satisfaction.
· Solicit employee feedback through surveys and focus groups to assess engagement and identify areas for improvement.
· Develop programs and activities that enhance diversity, inclusion and promote a sense of belonging among employees.

· Identify and support high-potential employees for leadership roles through tailored development plans.
4. Performance Management
· Drive the adoption and usage of the performance management system within the organization to improve performance and accountability at all levels.
· Develop and implement transparent rewards and recognition programs to boost employee motivation and performance.
· Work closely with Line Managers to ensure integration of performance data into career pathing and development opportunities.
· Develop leadership programs to cultivate future leaders in the renewable energy sector.
5. Compensation & Benefits
· Develop and implement a compensation strategy aligned with organizational goals and market trends.
· Oversee the design, execution, and communication of compensation and benefits programs, including salary structures, incentive plans, among other incentives andbenefits.
· Ensurecompensation benchmarking is done to ensure competitiveness in the marketplace and to support employee attraction and retention efforts.
· Collaborate with senior management to assess the effectiveness of current compensation structures and make adjustments as needed.
· Provide guidance and support to managers on compensation-related issues.
· Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations related to compensation and benefits.
· Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on compensation and benefits strategy, market positioning, and program effectiveness.
· Develop and implement communication plans to educate employees about compensation and benefits offerings and address inquiries.
6. Compliance
· Develop and implement compliance programs regarding organisational policies and specifically HR Policy and labour laws.
· Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to compliance requirements and report on findings.
· Provide training and support to HR staff and managers on compliance issues and processes.
· Serve as the external point of contact for compliance-related inquiries and investigations.
· Review current policies and procedures for compliance effectiveness and recommend improvements.
· Stay current with new regulations and developments in HR compliance.
· Collaborate with legal counsel to address compliance issues as they arise.
· Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Full member of Zambia Institute of Human Resource
· Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
· 10+ years of experience in HR leadership roles, with a strong focus on culture transformation within the renewable energy or related sectors.
· Proven experience in developing and executing comprehensive HR strategies.
· Strong understanding of labour laws, compliance, and industry-specific HR practices.
· Experience in talent acquisition, leadership development, and organizational culture transformation.
· Proven track record of implementing successful initiatives and programs in the six core areas detailed above.
· Strong understanding of employee experience, engagement metrics, and best HR practices.
· Thorough understanding of labor laws, HR policies, and compliance regulations.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
· Must be able to communicate with various stakeholders in English and at least one other local language widely spoken in Zambia.
