Regional Sales Manager: Western Province

  

  

JOB Title: Regional Sales Manager

Location: Western Province 

Department:  Commercial 

Reports To: Regional Head of Commercial

Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract 


JOB SUMMARY 

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing key customer relationships, expanding market presence, and managing portfolio health/performance within the assigned region. The RSM will lead and develop a high-performing sales team, build strategic partnerships, and work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve revenue and market share goals. In addition, the RSM will oversee regional compliance, rental management and inventory management. The position acts as RDG’s primary representative within the region, ensuring that all business processes, statutory obligations, and operational standards are met while fostering strong stakeholder relationships and supporting the company’s mission of expanding access to renewable energy solutions.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Achievement of regional sales targets and revenue growth.

2. Customer acquisition and retention rates.

3. Performance and development of the regional sales team.

4. Market expansion and penetration within the assigned region.

5. Effectiveness of sales strategies and promotional campaigns.

6. Customer satisfaction and feedback scores.

7. Accuracy of sales forecasts and budget management.

8. Number of strategic partnerships and distributor relationships established.

9. Manage customer credit performance in the assigned region


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Strategy & Execution:

1. Develop and implement regional sales strategies aligned with overall company objectives.

2. Identify new business opportunities, drive customer acquisition, and expand market share.

3. Meet and exceed regional sales targets and revenue goals.

Team Leadership & Development:

  1. Recruit, train, and mentor Agent Team Leads to enhance performance and engagement.
  2. Monitor individual and team performance, providing coaching and performance feedback.
  3. Foster a results-driven, customer-focused sales culture.

Customer & Partner Engagement:

  1. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and stakeholders.
  2. Collaborate with marketing teams to execute promotional campaigns and events.
  3. Address customer inquiries, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnerships.

Market & Competitor Analysis:

  1. Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.
  2. Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership to refine sales strategies.
  3. Monitor industry regulations and emerging technologies in the renewable energy sector.

Operational & Financial Management:

  1. Develop sales forecasts and manage regional budgets effectively.
  2. Track key sales performance indicators (KPIs) and report progress regularly.
  3. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.

Portfolio Health Management

1. Monitor and manage portfolio health, including customer repayment performance and risk indicators within the region.

2. Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve regional portfolio quality

Inventory & Asset Management

1. Oversee inventory management across all locations in the region to prevent pilferage, losses, and discrepancies.

2. Ensure accuracy of regional stock reports and proper reconciliation with central inventory systems.

3. Supervise the receiving, movement, and dispatching of faulty units within the region in line with company procedures.

Retail Management & Store Operations

1. Oversee the performance and operational standards of all retail outlets within the region, ensuring alignment with company sales and service objectives.

2. Ensure retail locations maintain high standards of visual merchandising, branding visibility, and product placement to maximize customer engagement and sales conversion.

3. Monitor daily retail sales performance, walk-in traffic, and conversion rates across all stores and implement actions to improve retail productivity.

4. Ensure retail teams adhere to customer service standards, providing a consistent and positive customer experience across all locations.

5. Manage retail stock levels and product availability in collaboration with supply chain teams to minimize stock-outs and excess inventory.

6. Conduct regular store visits and audits to assess store operations, staff performance, merchandising standards, and compliance with company policies.

7. Work with the marketing team to implement in-store promotions, activations, and campaigns that drive retail sales and customer awareness.

8. Identify opportunities to expand the retail footprint, including potential new shop locations, agent hubs, or retail partnerships.

9. Provide coaching and support to store teams to improve retail selling skills, customer engagement, and product knowledge.

Location Compliance & Administration

1. Ensure all locations within the region are up to date with rental payments.

2. Submit rental payment requests to the Finance Department in a timely manner.

Ensure all statutory and regulatory compliance requirements for each location are fully met and always up to date (e.g., council licenses, fire certificates)


QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field 

2.  MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage 

3.  Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in sales, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial or regional role 

4.  Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets 

5. Strong leadership and team management experience 

6. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills 

7.  Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)

8. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently within the region (Manual)

9.  Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities 

10.  Knowledge of the local market and industry trends
